Hair Restoration
It’s normal to lose 50–100 hairs a day. Sudden or excessive hair loss beyond that is a signal worth investigating, and while most hair loss is hereditary, hormonal shifts, nutritional deficiencies, stress, and underlying medical conditions can all influence hair growth and shedding cycles. More than 80 million men and women in the U.S. deal with hair loss concerns.
Because Dr. Falcone practices both functional medicine and regenerative aesthetics, your hair loss consultation isn’t limited to “which injection do you want.” It includes an assessment of your medical history, nutrition, and, when indicated, lab work to identify contributing factors before building your treatment protocol.

Treatment Options at The Falcone Center
| Treatment | Needles? | Downtime | How It Works |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vampire Hair Treatment (PRP + ACell) | Yes | 24–36 hours lying down; no shampoo for 36 hrs | Your blood is drawn and spun in a dual-spin centrifuge to extract growth factors, combined with ACell to amplify the body’s own repair signals to hair follicles |
| Alma TED | No | None, can style and go out same day | Ultrasound energy penetrates a growth serum directly into the scalp in about 30 minutes; no blood draw |
| ACell alone | Yes | Varies | An FDA-approved protein matrix (from porcine bladder tissue) that recruits the body’s own growth factors to stimulate follicle function; used off-label for hair restoration |
| Adipose-Derived Stem Cell Treatment | Yes (minor) | Varies | Uses your own fat-derived stem cells to support follicle health |
| Functional medicine workup | No | N/A | Identifies nutritional, hormonal, or medical contributors to hair loss before treatment begins |
PRP + ACell: The Vampire Hair Growth Treatment
Rather than PRP alone, The Falcone Center recommends combining PRP with ACell and targeted vitamins, what’s known as the Vampire Hair Growth Treatment, because ACell amplifies the effect of the growth factors delivered by PRP. This does involve a blood draw and requires lying down for 24–36 hours afterward with no shampooing, but has years of clinical use behind it as a hair-restoration strategy.
Note: ACell is porcine-derived (from pigs) and used off-label for hair restoration, patients should factor personal or religious considerations into this choice, which Dr. Falcone will discuss at consultation.

Alma TED: No Needles, No Downtime
Alma TED changed the equation for patients who want a non-invasive option. Using ultrasound energy instead of injections, it delivers hair-stimulating growth serum directly into the scalp in about 30 minutes, no blood draw, no needles, no lying-down recovery period. Patients avoid washing the scalp for 24 hours but can otherwise resume normal activity immediately, including styling and going out the same day. Dr. Falcone typically recommends three sessions, four weeks apart.
Which Is Right for You: Alma TED or PRP?
Alma TED tends to show excellent results for patients in earlier stages of thinning, and is the clear choice for anyone needle-averse or wanting zero downtime. PRP (with ACell) delivers a more concentrated dose of your own growth factors directly to the follicle and may be recommended for more advanced thinning. Dr. Falcone will recommend the right starting point, or a combination, based on your hair loss pattern and stage at consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What causes hair loss?
Most hair loss is hereditary, but hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, stress, and certain medical conditions can also drive shedding and thinning. Dr. Falcone’s functional-medicine background means your consultation includes a look at these factors, not just a default prescription.
What’s the difference between Alma TED and PRP for hair loss?
Alma TED uses ultrasound to deliver a growth serum with no needles and no downtime; PRP involves a blood draw to extract your own growth factors, is combined with ACell at The Falcone Center, and requires 24–36 hours of downtime. Both are effective; the right choice depends on your hair loss stage and needle tolerance.
How many treatments will I need?
Alma TED is typically done in three sessions spaced four weeks apart. PRP/ACell protocols are individualized based on your hair loss pattern and will be outlined at consultation.
Is ACell safe?
ACell is FDA-approved for wound care and is used off-label for hair restoration, a common and well-established practice. Because it’s derived from porcine (pig) tissue, patients should consider personal or religious preferences when choosing between ACell-based and non-animal-derived options like Alma TED.
